Cretto di Burri can be on top of your must visit spots when travelling to Sicily. From top hotels, museums and a ghost town – there’s something for everyone.
The main attraction however, was built by Burri who created a dramatic labyrinth of cement that is based on the streets of the original village that was completely destroyed in a earthquake almost 50 years ago. In 2015 this work was finally completed so you can now go and visit this landmark. There was also a documentary made on this village if you would like to see more information about it.
If you wish to walk around this historic landmark then make sure to pack in the best walking shoes. Italy sure has a lot of places worth seeing but if you are looking to go beyond the crowded tourist spots then this is worth considering.
